We went to the last Oyster Roast of the summer at Mingo Point. This is a must-do event for all bucket lists. Tickets must be bought in advance and to say it is well worth it, is a major understatement. For one price, you can have all the freshly roasted oysters you can shuck. Mingo point was a summer bucket list item for me as a local, and it did not disappoint. The oysters were hot out of the fire at a decent pace. Enough space to not feel crowded. The BBQ was terrific. Live music was a cherry on top. My expectations were exceeded. A few suggestions: - would love music to dance to—get people on their feet - section for games like corn hole - bar wait time was pretty heavy
Food was delicious and atmosphere is great
We were really looking forward to the Mingo Point Oyster Roast & BBQ as one of the signature Kiawah experiences during our family vacation, but unfortunately it was easily the most disappointing event of our trip. The biggest problem was simply how overcrowded and overwhelming the event felt. It was extremely noisy, lines and gathering areas were packed, and rather than feeling like a relaxed Lowcountry oyster roast, much of the evening felt like navigating a large, oversold resort event.
