Wonderful little discovery center near the Roanoke Star.
A star is born!!
The Discovery center is pretty small and geared towards children. Nice, though. And have toilets as you walk in. I did get a great Blue ridge parkway brochure though and the employee at the desk was friendly and informative. I was there at 11:20 AM and they were open. The signs there did say they open at noon so I guess sometimes they just open early. I recommend parking here to see the star. There is a great overlook and the walk up to the star is easy and short with another overlook.
The Discovery Center is such a hidden gem! There’s so much cool stuff to explore, both inside and out. My kids especially loved the sand area where they could make animal footprints, they could have stayed there all day! The inside of the center has a really fun and educational atmosphere, with interactive displays and nature-themed exhibits that kept everyone engaged.
