As a first-time homebuyer, I have a positive experience with Mike & his team. Overall, Rate is great lender if you’re looking for a quick & reliable service. Throughout the process, they made some errors when it comes to the closing disclosure which is the only reason I’m not giving a 5 star. Pay attention to the numbers, especially if it has a dollar sign attached.
Mike provided multiple loan option sheets and clearly explained rate buydowns so I could decide with confidence. His VA-loan expertise and proactive updates kept everything moving, and he collaborated seamlessly with my realtor. Initially very responsive to questions, but didn’t respond to email with a question 2 days before closing. As a first time home buyer it would have been nice to get a little more guidance through the process. Everything ended up working out but could have been a little less stressful and more clear with how much paperwork was required.
