We had the interior of our house painted prior to moving in, ceiling, walls, baseboards, crown moulding, widow and door trim. The ceiling was very rough and looked terrible, there had been an attempt to remove the popcorn ceiling but it really looked bad. The transformation after painting is nothing short of amazing.
