I'm very disappointed with the quality of Microtech. I bought a purple Amphibian, and it faded within six months. It wasn't exposed to direct sunlight, it just faded because the company did a very poor anodizing job. You can clearly see it under the clip; the original color remains, but the rest of the knife has become very pale. I'm very disappointed with this company, because a $330 knife shouldn't fade within six months of purchase. Support is silent and unresponsive. I'm a combat veteran of the 75th Ranger Regiment with five deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. I own four Microtech knives and carried a SOCOM auto on every deployment. I am exactly the kind of customer Microtech's brand is built around. Which is why what happened with my recent order is so disappointing. I paid for 2-Day Air shipping. On day 4, the package was loaded onto a delivery vehicle and marked out for delivery, then inexplicably pulled back and held with no explanation. I love MicroTech Knives, just NOT their service personnel program. The program offers a very limited selection of knives. For example, the Ultraech only comes in a Tanto blade for the service personnel program, you can’t change the style of the blade to another, all you can do is add serration. They only offers the Ultratech in 3 colors, Red, Blue & Black which was okay. In my opinion, I can’t stand companies like MicroTech who offer a Military, Leo or First Responder discount but then do not let the individual buy what they... read more
