For the Do-It-Yourself Geek I really like Microcenter for purchasing my computer hardware. I build my own systems (and repair others) and can easily find the components that I need at a fairly decent price. I don't like the fact that their sales associates seem to be paid on a commission basis and half the time, I think I know more than they do. But I do like the fact that I can order something online and pick it up at the store.

Microcenter "NO" customer service Having been a customer for a long time. Although I know I can buy products on line for less money, I liked the fact I could walk in, buy what I needed without having to wait for it to be shipped to me. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with any of their products. Now that I have a problem I am finding out just how bad their customer service is. Computer Repair I had a PowerSpec computer with a failed optical drive. MC replaced the drive under warranty. A few months later the optical drive failed again, but the repair center said it wasn't the one they had installed before. I knew no one else was inside the machine, but nothing could be proved. They showed me their records and even double checked them for me. Regardless, they compromised and put in a new drive for the cost of the drive (no labor or diagnostic charge). The one and only computer accessories place Microcenter is an acceptionally great store ,the staff are always willing to help you if you look confused about something and the selection is just great,many brands to choose from and you won,t leave the store without something,I'm sure! Oh yes,the prices are out of this world too!

Terrible customer Service Purchased a Laptop 4 months ago, brought it in for 3 repairs on 2/21/07: computer would not start up, computer kept locking up, and CD/DVD player kept kicking out (had to wiggle drive tray to restart). Customer service called 3 days later and said nothing was wrong with it and fixed nothing. Picked it up on 2/25/07, I have used it for 3 hours since, computer locked up twice, had to wiggle the drive tray to restart once, and now it will not start up again. I am bringing back in again today 3/3/07.

Excellent Customer Service In the last year I have purchased two computers from Micro Center, Mpls. When Dell refused to honor an up grade commitment on one of the computers, the store Mgr. Chip Kemppainen went out of his way to honor the commitment. I"m in customer service myself, and I can appreciate the excellent care and attention Chip and Dustin have given me. Thanks guys. Mark
