Dr. Malabanan (nephrologist) told my insurance company to refuse payment for a shoulder MRI for an injury sustained after a previous operation. All she did was follow the insurance company guidelines because she is not trained or experienced in orthopedics and perhaps that what is mandated by the insurance company. If the latter is true, why have a doctor employed at all? This practice should be illegal as it blocks access to care. Perhaps the doctor should stick to nephrology.
