I had colon resection surgery for recurring diverticulitis in July 2025. Dr Hernando performed the surgery robotically at MMC. The surgery went well and recovery, while tough in the beginning, went great. Dr Hernando explained what would take place in surgery, and provided great care. His residents were all friendly and caring as well. I highly recommend Dr Hernando for your surgical needs.

I'm 66 and had surgery for inguinal hernia 16 weeks ago by Dr. Hernando and am so glad I finally had done. I waited nearly 5 years avoiding surgery , big mistake. When another illness made the hernia a much bigger issue to deal with I realized I should have had it fixed early on. Dr. Hernando did a fantastic job in every way . 2nd Review - After previously being treated for diverticulitis (only Dr. to figure this out) I began have issues again. I immediately scheduled a an appointment with the best Dr. in NJ.. Unfortunately I was told my condition required bowel resection surgery. Very scary but had confidence with Dr. Hernando since he is the best in the business. Long story short - 1 week hospital stay was 3 days. Minimal scaring and wood working in 1 week. Unprecedented and should have been filmed for a documentary

Dr. Hernando is wonderful. He is very compassionate and professional. He was very clear in explaining the sometimes complicated process of my bi lateral mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes. My mother who wrote an earlier review, was upset and anxious when I was diagnosed and was confused about some of the process and steps need to be taken. Please take it from the patient, Dr. Hernando is wonderful.

Dr. Hernando was the surgeon our daughter chose when diagnosed with breast cancer and elected to have a double mastectomy even though one breast was involved. When Dr. Hernando came to the waiting room he told us all went well no worries. Only to find out later, more surgery was required to remove lymph nodes, in the "cancer free breast". He said cancer was found after more testing. He should have told us that more testing was needed and would get back to us. Stage 1 & 2 cancer resulted.

Excellent surgeon! He is very friendly and very professional... would recommend him to anyone!! He really knows what he is doing and always got back to me quickly if I had any questions, (even after my surgery).

A+, A+, A+ is how I describe Dr. Hernando. I had complete confidence in Dr Hernando based on his excellent reputation as a surgeon. Now that my surgery is over, I can attest, that he is one of the best surgeons around and I would use him again and recommend him to others. And, I am a physicians wife, and could have used anyone. My surgery was virtually painless, and I felt so good, that I questioned if I had surgery at all. Thank you, Dr Hernando. You are the best.
