Hired an outside company to kill birds nesting around the apartments. By suffocating them in trash bags and throwing them away still alive
In July Michaels Announced Place and Christine’s place apartments on 19th Ave in Brighton hired Impression Carpet Cleaning to knock down dozens of barn swallow nests. See video in comments. They then swept up the live babies and put them in trash bags to suffocate. A concerned citizen went into the dumpster and opened the bags and found some birds alive. A wildlife rehabber received the injured birds but only one made it.
We humans are the ones invading their natural homes, of course they’re going to nest on your complex infrastructure as we continue to take away and keep building more. What terrible person power washes baby birds from their nests??? Get over yourselves. Regardless of these birds being FEDERALLY PROTECTED, no one has the right to take away the life of any living creature. Shame on your management for allowing this to happen. 0/10.
Wow. If what I hear is true - and the sources I'm hearing from are trustworthy - this place sucks. I don't care for a moment about the apartments themselves. Management surely knows better than to indiscriminately and cruelly wipe out native wildlife. Instead of seeing the beauty of swallows - a federally protected species - they see something that somehow detracts from their idea of what an apartment building should look like. No one wants wildlife treated the way Michael Place is apparently doing. Unbelievable.
This business powerwashed a bunch of nests that had baby swallows in them, and all but two of the babies died! These beautiful birds migrate thousands of miles to build their nests and raise their babies here. What kind of people think it's okay to kill them en masse? Not only that it's actually ILLEGAL to destroy the nests of migratory birds! Please do not give this business any of your money!
