Probably one of the best psychologist in Charlotte, NC, especially dealing with PTSD and DID. He is kind, gentle, and very knowledgeable. He has a good sense of humor, great sensitivity, and an understanding of people who have undergone childhood trauma.
Dr. Yonkovig seemed to me cold and distant for someone entrusted with helping others. I also found him quick to judge, insensitive to nuance, and lacking in the humility one would think vital to someone involved in a healing profession. Add to the above a more than large ego and you have a broth more likely to scald than soothe.
I would highly recommend Dr .Mike Yonkovig for numerous reasons. His willingness to work you within your boundaries, while helping to expand them at your pace. His willingness to use various methods to find what helps you best and how he can reach in through damage caused by other bad therapists. He is very friendly and non formal which may be a plus or minus depending on what you want in therapist. By far the best therapist I have had with over 5-10 tries.
