A very compassionate , professional and knowledgeable doctor. He is the best neurosurgeon and highly recommended. I was his patient in 2021 and my meningioma procedure was perfectly done together with his Physician Assistant Dr. Tony Adkins. Even after my surgery if any questions I will send him email he quickly reply back. My Hero doctor.

Dr. Muhonen has been my son’s neurosurgeon for approximately 8 yrs and I seriously don’t know what we would do without him. He has literally saved my son’s life on more than one occasion. Dr. Muhonen is the best of the best and we’ve had interactions and surgeries with other neurosurgeons. He is second to none! He is not only skillful, extremely knowledgeable, but also kind and genuinely an amazing human. I can’t say enough good things about him. We are very grateful to him for all he’s done for our family.

He was professional, knowledgeable, great educator, kind, concerned, patient and saved my child from an unnecessary operation!
Referred to him by our CHOC neurologist. He recommended an MRI, CT SCAN, and a spinal tap for our 4 year old son having headaches. MRI and CT negative so we went to CHLA for a second opinion before committing to the spinal tap. Chla surgeon diagnosed an infected tonsil, went on antibiotics, cured. Stay away from this low quality doctor. He is an employed by CHOC and it’s seems his goal is to generate a lot of revenue for the hospital.
Dr. M is absolutely the best of the best! He is on time, efficient, and very caring. He takes all the time you need to explain things throughly and is confident when giving his opinions regarding the care being suggested. He also is great about responding when his patients have medical emergencies. We are lucky to have him as part of our team!
Dr Muhonen is knowledgeable and compassionate, he doesn't have the typical ego associated with his level of expertise. He does a great job of explaining complicated ideas and making them understandable.
