when I saw Dr. Richter during his time at UW rheumatology, he insisted that I should begin being weaned off of immunosuppressive medication, which I’ve depended on since I was diagnosed with JRA as a small child. his justification for this was an absence of rheumatoid factor in my bloodwork. this absence is known as “seronegativity”, and is actually very common with JRA (one would expect a specialist to know this already). rheumatoid factor isn’t necessary diagnostic criteria for adulthood-onset autoimmune arthritis either, ... read more
