charming, quaint, classic english bed and breakfast style hotel. very friendly and helpful staff, and a cute continental breakfast. rooms are spacious and have nice amenities. feels a little old fashioned, which I like.

Nice room, cool deco, high ceiling, gas fireplace, clean and relatively spacious - but no air conditioning as far as I could tell (but heating). Bed and pillows were not great. My experience with the staff that day was mixed. They were professional but not really enthusiastic or proactively helpful - doing their job, no more.

ur stay at The Merritt Hotel in Monterey was extremely disappointing. The bed had an old spring mattress so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep at all. The room was dark, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the shower pressure was barely a trickle. While the room was clean, it was absolutely not worth the price. The hotel uses the excuse of being a “historic property,” but it feels outdated and buried behind a seven-story Marriott building.
