My home mortgage, car loan, and checking account are all with Meriwest Credit Union. On 03/04/25, I had an experience at the Meriwest Credit Union branch on 5616 Chesbro Avenue in San Jose, California, CA 95123, that once again affirmed why I choose them for my banking needs. These people held my account hostage and preventing me from looking at my money that I put into that bank. Emphasis on "MY MONEY", not their money, "MY MONEY" in their bank. These tactics on doing this to customers is ridiculous, caused inconvenience, and I have been making numerous call to get a solid answer from their customer service department. I am closing my accounts, there are other banking institutions to bank with than dealing with this bank. Absolutely absurd.
MeriWest is unethical and could care less about clients. I had a loan with ********, all was great until I found out that the work completed was unpermitted and done by an unlicensed contractor using a bogus license number(the third party agency set up the contractors). Now the issue has blown up and ******** transferred my loan to another unethical loan servicing company and said to no longer contact them. Talk about a slap in the face. Today is Saturday 10/24/20 and my card has been blocked by this bank which means I can’t use my card all weekend. Which means they are holding my money hostage. I tried to use my card twice and finally realized because this isn’t the only time this has happened that all my charges were being declined. We worked with Bobby for our first mortgage. Bobby is awesome! He explained the process very well and was always available to answer any questions. He is also one of most warm and nicest person I have talked to. He and his staff made sure the processing was easy and fast. We had no issues during the process at all. We also got a great interest rate and Bobby explained the options with pros and cons very well.
I’m a new customer and sad that they’re not willing to help me during this pandemic time!
This place is a joke. Take your money (if they let you) and run as fast as you can to ANY other financial institution. DO NOT REFINANCE NO MATTER THE RATE. Their policies and procedures are arbitrary and they nickel and dime you to death.
