To be very clear, we did NOT build with Meritus. We purchased a model home built by Meritus in Beaufort SC. It was lived in by original owners for only 6 months. It was practically new when we purchased. This is simply my review of their quality and attention to detail after living in the home for 1.5 years. Where should I start? I don't recommend them at all. We've been working with Jeff at Meritus Signature Homes for almost 3 years and we've had an incredibly frustrating experience. We had to be involved at every step of the way because numerous mistakes were made that almost caused disastrous consequences (second floor failing, garage floor poured 14" too low). We lived out of state and had to hire boots on the ground folks (including our own engineer) at our own expense to help us prove to Jeff that there were engineering issues with our build. It’s hard to believe we’ve been in our Meritus home for almost three years now. Meritus truly built our dream home, and we loved the entire experience from start to finish. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and creativity in finding ways to make the design even better than the original plans was simply amazing.
