Terrible insurance company. They send someone to look at your house and don't give you time to cure the problem and will just cancel your policy without notice. Just awful all the way around, don't work with them.
I was a 3-year homeowners insurance policy holder with Mercury Insurance. When a pipe burst and flooded my basement on Christmas day, I immediately filed a claim with them. I called the independent agent that sold me the policy, who was no longer in business, leaving me with no one to guide me through this claim process. After everything was fixed (only enough to cover what was damaged as directed) the contractor sent them his invoice, they sent out another claim adjustor to check the work vs. the invoice.
