I recently began taking Muay Thai lessons at MMT Fitness and I am thoroughly enjoying it. That is not unusual in and of itself, but it is noteworthy as I am in my mid-70s. The highest compliment I can pay Frankie Mercado, the owner of MMT Fitness, is that he took me 100% seriously from the outset and continues to add new wrinkles to our sessions to challenge me. Great gym. I joined up about a month ago when I realized I was getting winded running after my kids and walking up stairs. I’m 45 and haven’t trained in anything like this in a very very long time, like before cell phones. The whole crew has been welcoming and warm since I walked in. Started with the cardio kickboxing class and moved into the Muay Thai class. The technical aspect keeps my mind busy learning new skills so I don’t notice the amount of cardio Im putting in. Great coaches , this is the right place for you if you want to learn but don’t have time . They have so many classes morning afternoon or night.
This gym is the real deal. The coaching is knowledgeable and actually focused on proper technique, not just throwing people into hard rounds. Training is tough but respectful, and everyone here pushes each other to get better. The environment feels like a team.. no ego, just hard work. Whether you’re new or already training, you’ll level up fast if you stay consistent; and you will meet some of your closest friends here. Highly recommend.
Walking into MMT was the real start for my Mauy Thai/kickboxing journey. I’ve never felt more welcomed in any other gym community than I did here. Frankie the owner is an amazing coach, with insightful knowledge you can’t find anywhere else. Him and all the other coaches are super helpful, and truly incredible at what they do! If you’re looking for a martial arts gym in OC Cali, I highly recommend you go check them out!
