Just a rubber stamp. It may as well not exist because it does not fulfil the intentions it was made with. This is an example of why the mental health system should not be given more funding, because resources will be wasted on wrongfully ‘diagnosed’ people who were not given procedural justice.

Basically, a court to let people off scot-free for murder etc. Sorry but if you kill someone, clearly you're not in the right frame of mind........ but it's still called MURDER. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to jail. The End. This court should not exist, there should only be criminal court, none of this mental health nonsense.

This is no check and balance. This kangaroo court is just a means of legally legitimising psychiatric oppression. I cannot believe this occurs in Australia.

Mental health provided by the Queensland government is dangerous, promotes disease and increases socio-economic disadvantage. It needs urgent reform. The MHRT don't respond to email nor does the Mental health Act protect patients from abusive practices. This system serves the interest of the pharmaceutical companies and puts patient safety last. Consumers need to get a lawyer to be listened to by the MHRT

Thank you for everything. I would like to say navigating the system can be frustrating however support is always available by reaching out to your Treating Team. My experience over the years with the MHRT has been positive. They are an unbiased independent body making a difference in the community. The panel will listen to your concerns and some of the questions they may ask include insight into your illness, mental capacity and the safety of you and the community.
