Not sure where to start except poorest of the poorest employee hiring and job performance. Lack of knowledge, experience, complete lack of care. No drive or leadership from top to bottom. Zero pride whatsoever in these employees career/job. I have lived in several cities in the South, some larger than Memphis, and MLGW is hands down the worst company when it comes to fixing ANYTHING! The time it takes MLGW employees to fix an outage is absolutely ludicrous and beyond human comprehension. They could care less of who's affect... read more
This month is absolutely horrible, and customer service is just ridiculous. Mlgw has raised the bill and it like im paying for other people. I just moved in my house and my bill is 258 dollars for one month no way. Then I'm not getting anywhere with the employees. I look on social media and apparently this is a topic for this month because everyone is having bill trouble and getting over charged. Maybe if they had competition it wouldn't be this way.
On Wednesday, March 3rd 2020 the apartment complex I manage was left with minimal water pressure due to the city shut off valve needing urgent repairs. While a rep from MLGW advised plumbers that they would return on Friday, March 6th, I was able to speak with Mr. S**** (crew #****) who facilitated water being shutoff within the hour. He stayed on site all day and recruited assistance from Ms. Brenda's crew (crew #****). Together with **************** they were able to replace the damaged parts of this valve and restore full... read more
I purchased a commercial warehouse in March of 2019. I transferred the utilities like normal for the address 358. Eight months later, on a Friday, on a 3 day weekend, MLGW authorizes some unknown party to turn off my power. There is only one person on the deed and the payed in full account at MLGW. The best that I can gather from some helpful but ineffective technicians is that the one of the 4 meters on my building was listed on a separate address 354. Now how was I supposed to know that? Now with record temperature lows mo... read more
I owe mlgw over $4000 in utilities, but I've never had utilities in my name. Now I can't get a place to stay simply because I can't get utilities until I pay the outrageous bill that I shouldn't owe. This is basicly extortion and robbery.
Hi my name is ************* I've been a customer since Friday..Given the weather was bad over the weekend I worked with mlgw. They came out to cut on my utilities today after not being notified. Once I call and find out that he lights and water were on I question about gas. I was told by a mlgw two to go wait a tech would be back. That was 12 not its 7:08 pm my five kids and I are freezing in this cold house. No family here in Memphis. I'm from **************. No food THANKS MLGW
Want to reevaluate your account and if had disconnection will make you pay a security deposit, never heard of a company being able to do this. This company does business however they want. Don't move to the county because they add a monthly $24.95 charge for fire dept, this should be not be added especially if you got to pay a separate fee if ambulance comes.
Business response:
Policies are necessary in any business to provide structure to complex processes. These policies are relevant to all customers and are applied in an equitable manner to ensure predictable results. According to Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division's 2017 Customer Care Policy Manual, Section 106.00, MLGW reserves the right to reassess and adjust the deposit amount as the Resiential Customer's level of credit risk increases (example: upon service reconnection after disconnection due to failure to pay). Customer may be require... read more
These people are absolutely the worst! They have no concern for the customer. They rob you on your bill, overcharge you for everything! They have no explanation on why they charge you one thing one month and double the next. Mlgw are nothing but crooks!
MLGW- is charging me extra money cause they claim they couldn't get in my gate to check my meter. several times i told them that my gate was never closed due to my kids getting in from school. My lights was cut off for $1.50 and i had to pay an extra 150.00 to get them cut back on. I really wish another company can come in memphis.
Business response:
It is not the practice of MLGW to charge a customer additional cost due to the inability to get access to a meter. Typically, if access is denied to a meter, the customer will be advised of the situation and given time to correct the issue. In the instance mentioned above, (if true) it's likely there were other issues associated with the fees mentioned.
