4.8/5 Was visiting Santa Cruz for the weekend when I found this gem. Being gluten free it’s hard to find donuts, especially good ones. The maple and coconut chocolate donuts were fantastic. Apple fritter was good, not great, but also it’s hard to make gluten free. Scone was also really good. Definitely will come back if I’m in the area. Coffee was also great.
I am a little torn on this review, because as a gluten free person, I am really excited to find a dedicated gluten free bakery, but at the same time am really disappointed when it seems like they don't try very hard. The cream cheese Danish was really bad. No butter flavor, the middle was raw dough and the flour was off. I am not a very good baker, but tried a few online recipes and came up with something that was at least buttery and had layers, so I know it is possible and not that hard. I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of the donuts before eating them! BUT- this was my first donut since being a celiac and they were amazing!!!! I am so grateful to Melinda’s and will definitely be coming back! They do stop serving sandwiches at 2, so don’t be late!
