About 3 weeks ago, I took my car to an [unnamed] repair shop and paid $40 for an estimate to repair/replace the muffler. An hour later, the estimate came to $1500 not including tax. If I could give a 0 star I would. They wanted to charge us almost. $1k for breaks and rotors. They didn’t even take the tires off to know that our tires were bare and that we needed new tires

They were very polite there. And she even knocked it down a bit for me when I explained my situation. My only thing is that when I paid for the diagnosis I thought it would be the entire car and it ended up just being the complaint of the car they looked into. But she did say I can bring it back for them to look at free. But then when I got home all my power steering fluid was out which wasn’t happening before I brought the car.
