We got an estimate for repairs on my daughter's car. The estimate was for $1700 to replace both front struts. Only one strut was said to be broken, but we were told that we had to replace both because the parts came in pairs. The very next day we went to another auto repair garage. They showed us that a piece of the left front spring was broke and would need to be replaced. They said they could replace just the one spring. The estimate was for $500.
