This place is a JOKE! I call to set up a new patient appt since my insurance says they are in network. I verify they have my insurance. However, they won’t even book an appt—instead they want to do this Bureaucratic NIGHTMARE of sending of my insurance card to some unknown email address and then just WAIT for someone (who knows when or why) to call me back. I’m only writing this review because I know Castroville is a booming town that has many families moving in. I would not recommend Van Winkle as anyone’s primary. He’s made some extremely unprofessional comments not to mention he often undermines my family’s intelligence. He will often accept calls from my grandfathers neighbors as truth to his health and tries to allow that information as valid for patient assessment. Unfortunately typical legacy backwards office practices. Staff was nice enough on the phone but they have a misplaced insistence on taking your Social Security number “for lab work.” No organization requires nor should they be using an SSN as an identifier. I’m sure they have more business than they can manage so they don’t need mine.
