Learning for all- the heart of Medford
The staff at the Medford PL is very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very helpful. I'm glad they're getting a new building. Not just people from Medford use they library. It should be a beacon of knowledge for everyone. Barbara Kerr and her staff are to be commended for the way they've kept this library going. BTW, I think the library should charge St. Joseph's Church $5000 a year for all the times their parishioners use the library parking lot. That would go a long way towards the renovation. LOL!
By not attempting to profit from the illegal sale of Indigenous artifacts, which violates every single thing that a library should be about.
Please stop the unethical auction of native sacred items and instead allow for their repatriation.
Stop the racist sale of Native artifacts.
I can not believe in this day and age, that a Library of all places would auction off items that should be given back to the tribes they rightfully belong to. A libraries purpose is to spread knowledge not auction off items that, if seen as surplus given back to the tribes to which they originally belonged. How disgusting.
In 2018, libraries should understand their role as stewards of knowledge and culture. They shouldn't be referring to, nevermind auctioning off, Native American artifacts as surplus goods. Shame on you. https://www.boston.com/…/native-americans-protest-auction-o…
