Great food and location. Decent menu selection. A bit pricey but you are paying for the atmosphere as well as the food. Staff not always the most helpful.
First of all, we had an 11am reservation. Our orders for drinks weren’t taken until 11:25 and our food order was taken at 11:35. Our food came out cold an hour later. We were all so hungry that we didn’t want to complain and have to wait for replacements. We only had 3 satisfied family members at the table out of our party of 12 people eating. Great, exquisite dishes. I had the wild boar and it was cooked to perfection placed on top of a peppery grits with spinach. Incredible. The meat was so tender it quickly fell apart just by working it with the fork
My wife and I came to the Black Rabbit Xmas night to have dinner. I had the most expensive dish on the bill of fare, ie The “salt and pepper crusted prime rib of beef wiith au jus mashed golden potatoes and green beans” .There was little “salt and pepper crusting” on the beef, none as far as I could tell. Prime rib should be the consistency of butter, mine was the consistency of shoe leather. The au jus was barely there at all and the green beans were completely uncooked. I think it has gone way down hill from the several times we have been there throughout the years. Most importantly is that the chef and food preparers, cooks etc. completely failed this year. Uncooked green beans. My husband also had a hard cold roll without butter, They used to have an exceptional cooking staff but not anymore. We definitely will not be back. For the price they charge we will be going to Jake's next time.
