I am so grateful to Dr McHugh. He explained throughly what needed to be done for my herniated disc that was compressing the nerve, resulting in a drop foot on my right leg. I am now able to lift my right foot up to walk after the surgery. He spent time with me to answer my many, many questions and walk me through the details why I was not lifting my foot up to walk. Dr. McHugh saved me from becoming paralyzed. I called his office to explain the numbness I was experiencing. They immediately arranged for a stat MRI. Dr. McHugh called me only two hours later and had me go to the hospital immediately for emergency surgery. Everything was done quickly and smoothly. His PAs are great and Melissa is always so kind/helpful when I call the Smithtown office. I'm will be forever grateful.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. McHugh and his team. Before my surgery, I was in severe pain from a herniated disc at L5–S1 and could barely walk for almost two months. The pain was overwhelming and the thought of surgery was very stressful. Dr. McHugh took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel calm and confident about the procedure.
