I know there is a housing shortage for students in West Chester, but I encourage everyone to stay as far away as possible from any property owned by McCool Properties. The company did not share that there was any damage to the property (it was left in better condition than when he moved in); however, they did not return my son's security deposit as legally required. I have had a great experience renting from McCool. I needed an apartment last minute, and after looking everywhere they gave me what they had, and even negotiated with me regarding price (everyone else in West Chester was charging astronomical prices). I continued to rent through my last year of law school, and any problem I had, whether maintenance or financial, as long as I communicated it to Andy or Lois we always found an amicable solution. If you’re a student I highly recommend renting from McCool.

Terrible. Scammed out of our security deposit for things that are well outside of normal wear and tear. We left the apartment in the same condition we found it in and lost $900. Yeah. Front door of the building broke and it took them a week to fix so we had to leave it open for anyone to walk in, they gave an unannounced tour of my apartment while I was sleeping in my bed, and for no good reason there was a light that shined directly into my bedroom at all hours of the day that not even black out curtains helped with. I would not recommend renting from this company. We did not go into our lease thinking it would be the “nicest” apartment considering we were college students, but the real problem is that communication with the company was abysmal at best. One example: There was a length of time that we went back and forth with the company, convinced there was mold in the apartment. We were told there was no mold, though there was only a quick check. Do NOT rent from them!!! The definition of slum lord. Extremely unprofessional and they have a horrible attitude when you question them. You won’t get your full security back. Save yourself the frustration and the money and find somewhere else to rent.
