McCall is a hidden gem in Idaho. A small mountain town wrapped around beautiful Payette Lake, it’s perfect for both summer and winter escapes. In summer, you get kayaking, hiking, and lakefront picnics; in winter, skiing and hot springs. The downtown is walkable with cozy cafés, art shops, and friendly locals. It feels laid-back yet vibrant, surrounded by pine forests and mountain air. A must-visit if you love nature, small-town charm, and year-round outdoor adventures.
We had a great time on the McCall Lake Cruise. Our Captain Steve was fantastic. He was friendly, engaging and informative. Having a bar to get a cocktail was nice to add to our relaxing ride around the lake. Thanks again to Steve and his first mate. I forget her name, but she was great as well.
We did the sunset cruise on a Sunday evening. Pros: great views, good music, funny & informative host, good cocktail selection. Cons: upper deck felt too packed, first part of the tour involved staring directly into the sun, tickets felt overpriced for a crowded ferry ride with a cash bar. Fun experience but I’m not sure if we’d do it again. I’d recommend booking a weekday to avoid the crowds.
Very nice experience I would recommend it 👌
