Thomas C. McLelland opened his carriage and custom saddle shop in Danville, Virginia in 1892. Business in the early 1900's was booming, he had all the business he could handle. By 1920, the need for horse-drawn equipment was dwindling. WWI had come to a close and Tom's only son, Clarence, returned home with military honors. Tom's untimely death in 1929 left the business to Clarence.

Even though McLelland's is primarily Western, they have a very nice selection of English tack and accessories. They very capably and carefully repaired my close contact Crosby saddle. They were careful to measure me properly for a new IRH helmut. The staff is very pleasant. and very knowledgable. Their prices are fair. I recommend them highly!
If your looking for a great place to buy/repair tack, this place does it all! And they have a HUGE selection of things from headstalls to saddle pads to grooming supplies. They were very knowledgable and repaired my old saddle, restoring it to its former glory! Very nice people!!! :D
