Fairmont Mayo Clinic Hospital----Do not take your elderly loved one here! The Physicians & Social Worker are way too eager to shove your loved one into a nursing home. Getting incentives $$$ for putting the elderly in nursing homes? It sure seemed like it, by what happened in 4 days that I was there. In just 4 days, 2 elderly were directed to be sent to a nursing home, instead of their homes. Closed the urgent care center even though it was always full. Closed the birthing ward. Closed surgery. Gotta go to Mankato. I wish the big wigs in charge would make that drive just once when they need care. I had to do this yesterday to avoid paying an exorbitant ER room bill. UHD in blue earth seems to be able to provide many of these services in a town 1/3 the size. Yet the big wigs at Mayo who makes millions in salary every year canât seem to figure it out. My portal in August, 2024 said to make an appointment in February, 2025. Called for appointment, schedule not open. Can't tell me when it will be open. Then got disconnected when they tried to transfer me to Patient Experience. Also on the portal it says I needed lab work with that appointment. Nearest lab that came up (on the portal to schedule) was 147 miles away when there is a Mayo laboratory about a half mile from my home and Mayo Clinic in Fairmont, MN. Very frustrating.Â
