Great food & great service – My group of friends goes out once a month, to a new place. We pick some place we have never been. This location and the atmosphere was very nice. Very cozy. The food was amazing! Great flavors..... I will say the only bad thing, is the later in the evening, they run out of fish and lobster. So if you want a lobster, apparently you have to reserve one. All in all...would eat there again
A great hang out in a fun neighborhood – My husband and I have been to Max Gill & Grill several times. First, if you want seafood, or rather, if you want fish, go Mon.-Friday. This is true of most seafood restaurants. Having read several of the reviews, I wonder what day of the week they went. Keep in mind this is Denver. Good Food, Great Service... – I have been to Max's a couple times and have not been disappointed - great oysters and specials. The wait staff is always super friendly! Nice relaxed atmosphere...
5280 dinner average – Went to Max Gill & Grill tonight (remember this as the old Hemingways) and the 5280 Specials were below average. The Calamari was filled with vegetables and very little calamari and the breading was heavy and greasy. The 4 oyster on the half shell option was good and above average. Ordered their Sole special and I think I saw these wrapped fish pieces either at Costco or Whole Foods. Max Gill Kinda a Thrill – While atmosphere and service in any restaurant can vary, I find the "Gill & Grill" to be a great hang-out spot. Right? The drinks are stiff and the food is great. Happy hour sometimes is like a classic dive bar, only safer and cleaner. There's a guy downing oysters and chasing them with beer, a few captivating ladies at the next table (who may or may not want you to buy them a drink) and the proverbial dirty old man...who doesn't love a dirty old man?
