I am late to getting around to this, but better late than never. I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Skancke. I underwent colon surgery last December, and came through with flying colors. Dr. Skancke was very specific in what was to be expected, and my recovery went very smoothly. After the surgery, at my request, he took the time to call my 92 year old father, a retired urologist, to let him know how things went. This Dr. was deliberately cruel to me during my initial consultation. I could never imagine any doctor inflicting anguish upon a patient in an inoperable situation. Exact quote to me in the presence of my husband, "Do you have a reason to live?" And "Why didn't you take care of this 35 or 40 years ago?" (For clarification, the diagnosis is new..) Who does that?
Dr. Skancke was excellent — professional, clear, and easy to talk to, with a great sense of humor that made the visit feel relaxed and comfortable. He explains things in a straightforward way and clearly knows his field well. The receptionist was also very kind and welcoming. Overall, a genuinely positive experience.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Skancke. Beyond being incredibly skilled, he has a warm, attentive bedside manner that is hard to find. He truly listens and makes you feel heard, which made my visit much more enjoyable than I expected. I actually find myself looking forward to my follow-up appointment.
Excellent doctor, very good.
