Dr. Skancke is exceptional. I had a complicated surgery which turned out very well. He made me feel at ease — his bedside manner is very good. Easy to recommend.
Worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. I left the office in tears. Before I was even seen, I watched the front desk turn away a woman for not having a referral, after Dr. Skancke himself walked out, slapped her folder on the desk, and left the receptionist to deliver the news. Check-in was cold and transactional: sign in, hand over insurance and ID, fill out papers, wait. The receptionist was rude and difficult to understand. The visit itself was worse. Dr Skancke’s office personnel are ignorant, incompetent and quite frankly, need to be re-trained on how to assist and help patients. Although Dr. Skancke is competent and knowledgeable, his staff needs to be re-trained and re-educated, especially Leticia. From someone who was in the Health Industry as an Appeals Analyst, I was disgusted by their attitude!! I am late to getting around to this, but better late than never. I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Skancke. I underwent colon surgery last December, and came through with flying colors. Dr. Skancke was very specific in what was to be expected, and my recovery went very smoothly. After the surgery, at my request, he took the time to call my 92 year old father, a retired urologist, to let him know how things went. This Dr. was deliberately cruel to me during my initial consultation. I could never imagine any doctor inflicting anguish upon a patient in an inoperable situation. Exact quote to me in the presence of my husband, "Do you have a reason to live?" And "Why didn't you take care of this 35 or 40 years ago?" (For clarification, the diagnosis is new..) Who does that?
