I have excellent private insurance and have never had an issue with the insurance company or payments. Prior to surgery I made sure all involved had my insurance information. They didn't run the insurance at all,or even try. Instead they sent me a bill. I'm sure they would prefer my cash instead.
The anesthesiologist was great—professional, kind, and made me feel well-prepared for surgery. However, the billing process was an issue. I paid the bill through the United Healthcare portal, assuming everything was handled. Weeks later, I got a call from a collections agency saying the bill was unpaid.
