Disappointing & Unprofessional I have over 10 years’ experience tutoring math in VUSD, VCOE, VCCCD, and with various agencies—and I can’t recommend Mathnasium at all. My experience: • Underpaid staff. They hire high-schoolers and pay tutors minimum wage (often less than local fast-food chains). • Program not followed. Despite slick marketing and graphics, they don’t run the Mathnasium method as prescribed—it’s basically a marketing sham. • Liability concerns. Have seen great progress with our 3rd grader. Friendly staff and very helpful with scheduling.
We have been there for a while and took a break mostly out of frustration. The experience recently has been better with some newer staff, but not all. Often there are too many students with varying age levels per tutor leaving kids waiting for help. When that happens, the experience is not so great and kids don't always get the time they need, and it can be frustrating. I do appreciate their willingness to listen and make some changes. I am hopeful things are heading in the right direction.
My daughter’s grade has really improved. And the entire staff has been wonderful with communication.
