While working as a subcontractor on one of their projects I was approached by several trades looking to collect payment and warning me to be careful. I thought I was safe as our families have a long history together although I’ve never worked for Matas before. Apparently that means little to Matas as they tried to avoid payment. I was only able to lien a small portion of what was owned as my lien rights had lapsed. I would say if you have the displeasure to meet either Gord or John, RUN don’t walk away!
