I’ve been a client here for about 14 years. I’ve had a few masseurs during that time. Currently, my go-to masseur is Tom. He’s way-beyond excellent. I’ve had many-a-session with him. I get knots in my shoulders, neck, and calves. He gets in there, warms up the area and slowly breaks down the knots. When I’ve tweaked my back or had a dose of sciatica, he’s really helped me to speed the healing process. The therapists are decent once you try a few people out for fit, but the policies and management are horrendous. After visiting this location for the past 4 months, I was informed while checking out after my massage today that I would be charged an $8 “transfer fee”. Why? Because the contract I was locked into for a year had me paying $75 a month and Massage Envy subsequently raised prices to $80. The massages are fine and are consistent with expectations at Massage Envy, but the policies here are determined based on poor management decisions that adversely affect employees and customers. One example: they charge clients a $3 processing charge to tip their employees, a policy that essentially penalizes their massage therapists by disincentivizing tipping. The manager claimed that this is a result of credit card transaction fees, but credit card transactions cost about 2-2.5% for a swiped transaction and it is absurd t... read more
