My experience here has been very helpful. Alisha is knowledgeable, compassionate and her style of therapy works for me. She has a good understanding of family dynamics and grief. I would recommend Alisha to a family or friend.
I went here 10 years ago in 2015. I left this counselors feeling far more traumatized, 100 % invalidated. Looked at in a way of as if what i was saying was a lie. Ended up going to another another counselor. After having a complete nervous breakdown. Never in my life with any counselor had I ever felt this invalidated or unheard. I felt like what had happened to me was my fault like I asked for it. Now maybe she has gotten better. I do not know but going to her was far more damaging then helpful.
This type of therapy may be helpful in the early stages of a relationship before things get too hard but this wasn’t helpful for betrayal trauma and I often felt invalidated about how I was feeling. The focus was on communication and finding each others love languages instead of finding out why my husband had unhealthy coping mechanisms or why I felt it was okay to put up with bad behavior for so long.
