I've been a patient of Dr. Sherrid since my HCM diagnosis in 2010. I have accepted his "quirky & gruff" demeanor in the past, and our visits have been routine and generally pleasant. However, my recent appointment diverged significantly from this pattern and necessitates sharing my concerns. He is the most arrogant misogynist I have met in a long time, and I'm in my 70's and a woman who knows how to take care of herself in the real world and in the hospital world. This man had me in tears on two occasions: once when I noted that he was prescribing medication that hadn't worked and was costing me $100 per month (he did not want me to have surgery) and he told me I had "lousy" insurance; and also when he asked, in the most condescending voice, what I expected from the surgery: all I wanted was to be able to walk a... read more
