When they computed my property taxes to be computed in my escrow / mortgage account they used the last owners homestead amount. Not the real property tax amount. Now I have to pay the difference. Shouldn't they know better?
Business response:
You are talking about your escrow account with your lender and this part of the closing disclosure we only add what the lender wants to collect. We send all tax information over to them and then they let us know how much to collect. They have restrictions on how much they are able to collect based on what tax information is available at that time. This closed in July and at that time we still only had last year's tax amount to go by. Trim notices don't come out till October and unfortunately Marion County taxes also increase... read more
