I chose a career in medicine after watching how my mother worried about her ill father who was halfway around the world, always wanting to know what the doctor's plan was. My mission trips in medical school then solidified my desire to specialize in family medicine. I enjoy working with all populations from pediatrics to geriatrics. I strive to be a physician that patients are comfortable coming to when they have a concern, need a thorough annual exam, and seek further assistance with managing chronic diseases.

Before Dr. Balboa I was going to Community Health Center where I went through many PCPs that I was not a fan of to say the least. I decided to make the switch to Optum and found Dr. Balboa. She is so professional, easy to talk to, and thorough. She makes what could be uncomfortable exams extremely easy. She is very considerate and talks you through the procedure(if you would prefer that) and it's been so refreshing meeting a doctor who makes you feel heard and listens to all my concerns with no judgment just very valid advic... read more
Dr. Balboa is not only efficient, clear, and personable, but a truly understanding and caring person who in my experience has been easy to talk to and communicate with. I appreciate her candor and transparency when speaking with her, and that she is a partner in taking care of myself. I am grateful to have been connected with her and hope to continue working with her.
Saw this provider last fall. I had a positive interaction the one time I met her when a family member had an urgent appointment. When I saw her for myself, I felt she was demeaning regarding questions re weight loss. Her exact words when I inquired about injectable weight loss drugs: Those medicines "are just a crutch." She was abrupt in her answers, appeared to be in a hurry, I felt bad for taking up her (paid) time. As a nurse for 30+ years, I'd say it's one of the worst interactions I've had with a doctor. Ever.
I have never felt so demeaned and insignificant as I did in this visit. This doctor does not show empathy or general concern. I felt as if my worries and concerns were not relevant. In a moment when I was most vulnerable and shared something scary, I was made to feel as if I was insane. Walking into this appointment I was hopeful and walking out I felt as if I could never be vulnerable again. There's no way I would ever feel confident in sharing intimate details of my experiences with a physician again. My trust has been com... read more
Did not know what medications I was taking. Attitude was very demeaning.
