I really like this old world beach hotel. The rooms are not luxurious, but the hotel has an old world warmth and charm, it's clean, the staff is wonderful, and it's in a great location. I've stayed here once a year for several years for the Santa Barbara Writers Conference and have always enjoy the experience.
Stayed at Mar Monte for a few days for a conference at a hotel next door. The first thing I'll say is that your experience will be directly correlated to which building your room in in. I was in the main building 1. And you can tell it's an old building. The elevator to the 3rd floor didn't work. I had to move luggage and the whole place had a musty smell. The AC in the room was not even trying, either freezing or not working. Beautiful location but not as nice as others around
