When I was a client at maplewood, someone I knew had come in a day or two after me. This person was struggling very bad with fent and instead of helping him through the withdrawls, they let him use it in there. Not only him, but another client were using fent in the building for a day and a half before one of them ama’d to go get more. Maplewood is a horrible treatment center. Groups were small so everyone got time to speak. The moderators kept conversations focused but they never shut down tough topics. I left several sessions feeling lighter instead of drained. It was the first time I felt heard.

I spent six weeks in the program and the structure really helped. Mornings started with group, then individual therapy, and we had time afterward to reflect or take a walk. What meant a lot was that clinicians remembered details from session to session. Before discharge we built an aftercare plan with local resources that fit my work schedule. The Merchantville location is peaceful and staff made the transitions between levels smooth. When I finished I felt ready for real life, not just discharged.
