Our family has been coming to the Maples as long as I can remember after our 30yr+ annual July 4th CP get together. The owners and my parents always had great conversations and they made it feel like more than an overnight stay or a motel, they really make you feel welcome
I don't know how the average review of this place is so high. I'll give it 2 stars rather than 1, because the guy there was friendly and helped with the temperature inside the room when we raised that concern. But the rooms really need a thorough re-modeling. There was no lock on the bathroom door, the sink looked like it was being kept up by a tent pole, there were holes in the sheets, and flies in the room. It took an hour to swat all of them. Rooms always smell fresh and clean. Great location far enough away from the traffic of Cedar Point next to a nature preserve and right by the back entrance of the park. Owner is very friendly and the rates are fair. There is a railroad crossing across the street and a loud train horn blows every 40 minutes or so. This is my new favorite place to stay when going to Cedar Point. In an area full of hotels and motels I think we found the diamond in the rough. All of the staff was very friendly and hard-working. They were very helpful when we needed anything. The rooms are small but clean. Yes, the trains are out of control, but that is in no way their fault. I just recommend ear plugs. What an amazing place! Very retro, very different than all the other hotels I've stayed in. I had a really nice cute room, perfect for one person, after quick stop at Cedar Point. It's the perfect location for that! There's a decent sized fridge in the room, and a pretty decent breakfast option in the office - fruit, donuts, and breakfast/granola bars, and coffee - considering I want expecting it at all.
