Mammoth Rock is a great natural feature to see in Mammoth Lakes. It is a short 1/4 mile hike from Old Mammoth Road to the rock and the trail offers great views of Mammoth Lakes and the valley below.

There is fantastic view of eastern side of Mammoth. I don’t believe the summit is accessible by the any trail. You get a fantastic view from Mammoth Rock Trail. There is some parking near the top of the trail from Old Mammoth Road (in non winter months). There is great night photography opportunities here and the trail is dog friendly. There are MTBs that routinely use this trail so just be aware.
