New review: I feel that Mama Bean did me a real disservice by recommending virtual-only lactation support. Looking back, I now understand how essential it is for a Lactation Consultant to observe the breastfeeding process in person — to assess latch, positioning, baby’s oral function, and to perform things like a weighted feed. Without that, it’s incredibly difficult to identify underlying issues. Cari was amazing. I had preeclampsia and had to deliver 4 weeks early. I was separated from baby pretty much immediately. He needed blood sugar monitoring and they had to get my blood pressure in order so I was pumped with tons of medication & fluids. A few days later I had to be readmitted for high blood pressure again. I had to be away from my baby for 2.5 days and I was literally producing drops.
