I have seen Dr. Toma for quite a long time. Initially I was not quite impressed since what we did is just routine annual physical exam. It changed when I had a major hospital incident. For the post-hospital care, she was very thorough. She was very caring and when I complained about my pain and expressed my concerns, she got me referred to the specialist immediately, so I can check out whether there is an issue or not. Dr. Toma was so much better when I first started with her a few years ago, she took over when my primary physician retired. But even so, she hardly remembers who I am and my medical history. Recently it has gotten worse. For example, she mentioned that I have a “gait” problem several times on my visit summary. Hello, don’t you remember I had a brain bleed that resulted in a 2 months coma in NRICU? It happened when you are my primary care! Being able to stand upright is already a miracle. don't waste your time. you are lucky if you get the time of day from her.
I always try to get on the good side of medical providers: they have the power to grant or withhold treatments, after all, and I always try to establish a jokey rapport, but this provider is cold, uninterested in treating people, and hostile. I came in with a face rash - diagnosis shingles - and had to listen to her views on the psychiatric treatment I also receive (hint: she was against it.)
