Two years ago I had an accident at work and went to Madison Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Turns out I had broken 3 bones. I was not given ANY pain medication at the hospital despite the broken bones and my personal assessment of pain of a 7 on a scale 1-10!!! If I could give zero I would. Front desk is great, the rest of the hospital is great! But the ER is onr of the worst I've ever needed to rely on. I'd rather go almost an hour away to EIRMC. Dr. Mengan treated me like I was a pest, diagnosed me with Bipolar 2 when I've been in therapy all my life without that diagnosis, and did nothing for my pain. Frankly had a horrible experience here. Took my daughter (11) for abdominal pain she’d been having for days but had quit eating so I got scared and took her in. We sat for quite a while in the waiting room but I expected that. We get taken back and the doctor literally lectured us for 10 minutes about how he gets 10 people a day with abdominal pain and he can only ever diagnose or find a reason for 1. I absolutely recommend going to a different emergency room if you can. I’ve had multiple horrible experiences here with my kids. Nurses and doctors laughing and being extremely loud acting completely oblivious to the fact that there are sick and hurting people around them. In my first experience I brought my 6 month old baby who was having trouble breathing. They decided to monitor her for a few hours. I just delivered a baby here for the second time. I through I just got really lucky the first time to have such great nurses and such a great experience. This second time was somehow even better! I'm used to hospitals that are very busy, rushed, and feeling like I'm just a number to hurry and help and get to the next patient. There was always someone available to help take extra good care of me, doing everything they could in their power to make sure I was well cared for and comfortable.
