Currently run by the family’s third generation, Madawaska Kanu Centre was the vision of Christa & Hermann Kerckhoff. Winning the individual Canadian Whitewater Kayak Champion title in 1968 the couple was inspired to get more paddlers out on rivers. The first whitewater school in the world was born. We went for a 2 hr white water rafting experience at over $100 each. Waste of money - it was nothing more than a calm ride on the river then they want you off the boat for a swim. This experience is suitable for under 10's only in our opinion. We went early expecting to have lunch at the cafe they advertise. There wasn't a cafe. On offer was coffee, 3 not fresh chocolate chip cookies and you could buy a small pack of sweets if you chose to. Not even a sandwich on offer
Great setting, food, instructors and facilities. They will definitely look after you!
Such a good time
Absolutely wonderful experience!! We did the Mad River Adventure which was perfect for our family of 5. (two 12 year olds, a 17year old and 2 fun loving 50+ parents). Hazel was our guide and she was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to get to know us and to see our comfortable we were in the water and then customize the adventure for us, even giving our two sons a chance to guide the raft. We recently went on the Family Whitewater Rafting adventure with our two boys (ages 7 and 10), and the entire experience was incredible from beginning to end! As first-timers, we wanted something exciting but approachable and this was the perfect way to dip our toes into whitewater rafting.
