Incredible food and gracious friendly waiter. I've eaten the finest restaurants around the world. Who would have thought you'd find one of the best in a road trip in Columbia Missouri?

I can't go too many days without wanting a steak. There are not too many choices for a good steam in Columbia, MO but I am so glad that we found this little gem. I called a few hours earlier to get a reservation. We we arrived our table was set and waiting for us. When dining the food is important, but so is the service. There's certain realities in Columbia. If you want fresh Chinese, you go to Mandarin House. If you want really good Italian, hit the Rome. But if it's a steak you have in mind - a truly top-notch steak - the only name in town is Mackenzie's. The restaurant is in what was once a Greyhound station of the old sort: 1930s brick, with the old overhang serving to provide a large dining patio during nice weather. Thought it would be fun to go here for the atmosphere and you certainly pay for it! The crab dip appetizer was delicious, but the entree was deplorable. Our steaks came out practically raw, they were actually cold on the inside. It's been a little over a year since I ate here and I've been reluctant to return.
