Over 30 years ago I developed a process I call "Suspended Divorce", which allows people time to work on their marriage, while being protected by mediated court orders that resolve their legal issues, such as support, division of property and parenting arrangements. Suspended Divorce is currently utilized by about half the people that I mediate. It provides couples with a way to continue their tax and health insurance benefits while working on their relationship, if desired, and has even been instrumental in saving marriages.

I also found Robert Macfarlane on the workshop at Mira Costa College. I was also told to use a mediator that would "relate to your former". Well, he did and also sided with him! I wish I would have hired a real attorney so I didn't get screwed for being a stay-at-home mom!!! Do yourselves a favor and get a good attorney that will represent you in court and don't go with a mediator that isn't fair and sides with the husband!!! My ex and I used Robert for our mediation in the Spring of 2020 and he failed us in so many areas that I feel compelled to share the experience with others. To start, he spends his first meeting scaring you not to even consider getting your own lawyers and why you need to use mediation. Then, he was careless and did NOT have us complete Disclosure Statements (as is the norm, and required by the courts) but instead asks us verbally over the phone to recite all of our property and belongings.
